The ICA (International Copper Association) created the “Cu+” Label to standardize the antimicrobial use of copper; this subsequently became a global brand and was presented at the Expo Shanghai 2010. This Label guarantees that the products displaying it, which go beyond hospital supplies, have copper with antimicrobial properties. It is this copper that serves as the basis of the special alloy used to manufacture KAWELL horseshoes. After years of painstaking research and development, the proper combination of metals was discovered that allowed for the creation of a copper-alloy horseshoe that stood up to the rigorous wear requirements of shod horses, while providing antimicrobial properties and repetitive shock reduction at the same time.
