The HaptoKit rapid screening test allows the identification of haptoglobin in cow's milk by means of an immunological assay. It uses a capture antibody that specifically recognizes one region of haptoglobin and a detection antibody that specifically recognizes another region of this protein. After incubation, the assay is revealed by the developer solution which generates a blue precipitate proportional to the amount of protein.
